First Appearance

Jado is the first and most powerful of the High Krawl. He makes no appearance in the first game, but appears in both Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals and Spectrobes: Origins.

Appearance[]

Jado, in his humanoid form, is dark blue with spiky black hair with traces of blue, and he wears a cape. In Beyond the Portals, he has a giant, shadowy creature by his side. It is unknown why this being does not appear in Origins.

His Krawl form has much more to it. He becomes a grotesque creature with skin that is mostly black, though it has lines of multiple shades of blue running across his body, as one would see in a circuit. In shape, the base of his body is comparable to that of a tree, with its roots digging into the ground. With this comparison in mind, there is a thin "trunk" connecting the base to the upper body, which is somewhat round. Spikes of varying lengths and widths protrude from various places on the upper body. His head is presumably the area where another protrusion rises, not far from the largest of the spikes, on which there are patterns that resemble a face. In the second encounter, the shape of his body changes little, if at all. Instead, he sports a larger variety of colors which correspond to the other High Krawl (i.e. green for Gronos, red-orange for Gelberus, and purple for Maja), which he absorbed for more power.

His humanoid appearance changes little between Beyond the Portals and Origins. The only noticeable difference is his clothes; while, in the second game, he appeared almost naked but for the cape, in the third he sports a get-up identical to Krux's. He even has the Prizmod on his left arm. This is due to his duty of impersonating Krux for the majority of the game.

His Krawl form in Spectrobes: Origins is once again drastically different from his humanoid one. However, this form is more human-like than his previous ones. He retains the variety of colors brought about by the absorbtion of the other High Krawl, though he remains mostly blue and black. He is approximately twice as tall as before, though his legs are very thin despite the largeness of his upper body. On his right side, he has two arms, one thin and somewhat short, and the other longer than his whole body. The size of this arm, which is positioned above the smaller, forces him to crouch while moving around. In addition, as it gets closer to his bulky hand, its width increases. The other hand appears to be partially encased by ice, but Jado can still move it in its full range of motion. He has only a single arm on his left side, one which seems to be in between the sizes of those on the other side. Where his left shoulder is, there is a pair of protrusions which point outward like spikes, each with a black spot in the middle surrounded by green (on the upper one) and red-orange (on the lower one). He also has several wings (between five and eight) which seem to be able to vanish and reappear at his will. These wings are a pinkish-purple color, and the design makes them appear torn. His face appears much thinner, but it is mostly the same. However, his eyes are replaced with green marks, which indicate his weak point, like other bosses in the game. His hair also experienced significant change: At the base, it is blue and black, as in his human form, but it abruptly transitions into a dark shade of pink, from which point it smoothly transitions a yellowish orange. It is much longer as well.

History[]

Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals[]

Jado is one of the Four High Krawl. He is capable of making a shadow of himself, most notably using it to fight Rallen on Genshi. The shadow has 2400 HP and the Flash Property. After the shadow is defeated, it hides on Rallen's cruiser and absorbs the powers of the other three High Krawl once they are defeated.

Eventually, when Rallen arrives on Malik, he battles the real Jado with the combined powers of Maja, Gelberus, and Gronos. Despite this added force, his Property is still Flash. As with the first battle, Aurora Spectrobes are indispensable. When he is defeated, he runs to Krux, requesting more power. In response, Krux sends him to the Krawlosphere. It is unknown if he was actually merged with the Krawlosphere and was freed after gaining this power, as there is no mention of it in Origins. Krux implies that he intended for Jado to remain as a part of the Krawlosphere in saying that Jado was to drift throughout the universe, spreading Krux's name and destroying everything in sight. Further supporting this theory is Jado's remark that he is unable to move.

Spectrobes: Origins[]

Jado2

After the events of Spectrobes: Beyond the Portal, Jado takes on the guise of Krux, observing the progress of Rallen and Jeena throughout the Kaio System. However, this plan had a fatal flaw: The Krux Jado was impersonating had the same appearance as Krux thirty years ago, younger than the normal Krux.

After Rallen and Jeena claim the fifth and final Shard of the King on Bahmud and awaken Kamtoga, Krux appears before them. After a bit of smack-talk from Kamtoga, Commander Grant steps into the room, stating that he is an imposter. The real Krux then appears and removes his mask. The fake Krux offers to deal with the group, but the real Krux knocks him aside, knocking his mask off and revealing his identity as Jado. Krux then belittles Jado, calling him unreliable and a threat to his plans, and forced him to go.

Jado later reappears as Rallen and Jeena are about to place the final Shard of the King to awaken the Beast King, transforming from his humanoid form into one more fitting for his nature as a Krawl, and they are forced to battle him. After defeating Jado, he pleads and begs to Krux for more power, with no response. Krux then declares from a distance that he shall be destroyed by the Krawlosphere along with Rallen, Jeena, and the rest of Wyterra. Jado then spreads his wings and flies off toward the Krawlosphere while Rallen sets the final shard into place, awakening the Ultimate Form Kaio. Kaio vaporizes the invading Krawl, with Jado being caught in the blast.

Trivia[]

  • Jado is the only one of the four High Krawl to appear physically in more than one game.
  • In the cutscene prior to the fight with him in Spectrobes: Origins, there are many inconsistencies between the subtitle text and Jado's actual lines. It can even be seen in the first line, "Out of the gloaming, and into the deepening darkness..." However, when Jado speaks, he leaves out the word "deepening." His lips are also synched with what he says. Every other scene in the game is subtitled accurately, as are Rallen and Jeena's lines in this same scene. In addition, when Jado is speaking in the cutscenes before and after the fight with him in his Krawl form, he has his normal voice; in the cutscene featuring Kaio afterward, however, he has a different voice.
