Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals has a much different Mineral system compared to its predecessor. Instead of boosting each of the three individual stats of a Spectrobe, all Minerals contribute Minergy points to filling up a single bar. This bar functions much like a standard "experience point" bar in other RPG's; once the bar is filled, HP, ATK, and DEF are all increased by a predetermined amount. Notably, despite needing an ever-increasing amount of Minergy points to level up, Minerals always fill a fixed percentage of the bar. For example, this means feeding a Coronium C Mineral to a Komainu will always fill 10% of the experience bar, regardless if it is level 1 or level 98. This percentage based system means that feeding a Spectrobe Minerals is more efficient than battling Krawl with regards to leveling up. This gap only increases the higher in level a Spectrobe becomes.

There are 4 basic Mineral "types" each now corresponding to a Property, and are color coded for easy identification:

  • Coronium - Red, gives full Minergy to Corona Property Spectrobes
  • Aurorium - Green, gives full Minergy to Aurora Property Spectrobes
  • Flashium - Blue, gives full Minergy to Flash Property Spectrobes
  • Dark - Purple, Gives full Minergy to Dark Spectrobes

Furthermore, each of these Mineral "types" come in five shapes, corresponding to the magnitude of their effect on the level up bar:

  • C rank - Triangular pyramid, fills 10% of the bar
  • B rank - Rectangular prism, fills 20% of the bar
  • A rank - Crescent, fills 40% of the bar
  • A+ rank - 5 point star, fills 60% of the bar
  • S rank - Unique shapes, fill 100% of the bar, no Dark equivalent

If a Mineral is given to a Spectrobe of a differing Property, the Minergy gain is halved from its standard value. Matching the Property of the Mineral, the Spectrobe, and the terrain of the Incubator room it eats the Mineral in results in a doubling of the original Minergy value. Despite Dark Spectrobes being classified as Corona, Aurora, or Flash Property, they will only receive halved Minergy values from Coronium, Aurorium, and Flashium. Instead, they must be fed Dark Minerals to gain the equivalent Minergy value increase. Dark Spectrobes don't initially appear able to receive the Minergy-doubling benefits of having the matching Mineral-Property-Terrain combination that standard Spectrobes do. However, the Special Terrain obtainable through the Card Input system conveys a Property-matching bonus to any Spectrobe inside, including Dark Spectrobes.

Some Minerals convey no Minergy-boosting effect, but have other purposes. Chroma Minerals change a Spectrobe's Custom Color, Seed Minerals boost the HP, ATK, or DEF stats directly without filling the level up bar, and Evolve Minerals instantly satisfy one of the three requirements for a Spectrobe to Evolve.

Certain Child Spectrobes, such as Gejio, Mossari and Zyra, have enhanced Mineral-finding powers that cause certain Minerals to become less rare, and appear to make more valuable Minerals appear in Mystery Stones. It is unknown if using a Child Spectrobe with this ability makes Minerals more common overall. Rare Minerals also appear to be easier to find if the player has at least one of them in the case at the time of entering the area, but this has not been confirmed.

At any time, the maximum amount of Minerals that can be owned at a time is 99 for each type, including the Cubes.

Trivia[]

  • The models for the S-rank Coronium, Aurorium, and Flashium Minerals are reused from Minerals in the original Spectrobes, being Titanium, Uranium, and Chrome respectively.
  • Titanium is the only Mineral in the series that has drastically a different appearance and use depending on what game it is found in, being a consumable Mineral in Spectrobes and a non-consumable crafting ingredient in Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals.
